The National Disability Insurance Scheme is an Australian government initiative to help people with a disability live as much of a normal life as possible. In Australia, there are about 4.3 million people with disability. The NDIS aims to provide 650,000 people who have a significant or permanent disability an NDIS Provider, funding, and support services. Once it is fully implemented, the NDIS is expecting that 475,000 people will receive individualised support from around $22 billion each year. This allows Australians to get the day-to-day care they really need.
